The nature and theoretical underpinnings of ethics have been an intellectual driving force animating the pursuits of great scholars. In "The Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysic of Morals" (1785), Immanuel Kant, one of the most powerful philosophical minds of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, inquires into the true nature of morality. In rejecting the results or consequences of action as the foundation of moral judgements, he denies that good or bad effects have any relevance in the moral evaluation of human behaviour. King Arthur is a legendary British leader who, according to Medieval histories and romances, led the defense of Britain against Saxon invaders in the early sixth century. The details of Arthur’s story are mainly composed of folklore and literary invention, and his historical existence is debated and disputed by modern historians. The sparse historical background of Arthur is gleaned from various sources, including the Annales Cambriae, the Historia Brittonum, and the writings of Gildas. Arthur’s name also occurs in early poetic sources such as Y Gododdin. The legendary Arthur developed as a figure of international interest largely through the popularity of Geoffrey of Monmouth’s fanciful and imaginative 12th-century Historia Regum Britanniae (History of the Kings of Britain). However, some Welsh and Breton tales and poems relating the story of Arthur date from earlier than this work; in these works, Arthur appears either as a great warrior defending Britain from human and supernatural enemies or as a magical figure of folklore, sometimes associated with the Welsh Otherworld, Annwn. How much of Geoffrey’s Historia (completed in 1138) was adapted from such earlier sources, rather than invented by Geoffrey himself, is unknown. Although the themes, events and characters of the Arthurian legend varied widely from text to text, and there is no one canonical version, Geoffrey’s version of events often served as the starting point for later stories. Geoffrey depicted Arthur as a king of Britain who defeated the Saxons and established an empire over Britain, Ireland, Iceland, Norway and Gaul. In fact, many elements and incidents that are now an integral part of the Arthurian story appear in Geoffrey’s Historia, including Arthur’s father Uther Pendragon, the wizard Merlin, the sword Excalibur, Arthur‘s birth at Tintagel, his final battle against Mordred at Camlann and final rest in Avalon. The 12th-century French writer Chrétien de Troyes, who added Lancelot and the Holy Grail to the story, began the genre of Arthurian romance that became a significant strand of medieval literature. In these French stories, the narrative focus often shifts from King Arthur himself to other characters, such as various Knights of the Round Table. Arthurian literature thrived during the Middle Ages but waned in the centuries that followed until it experienced a major resurgence in the 19th century. In the 21st century, the legend lives on, not only in literature but also in adaptations for theatre, film, television, comics and other media. The Sir James Knowles version of King Arthur is considered as the most accurate and well known original story of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table.

He has been estranged from the village for years, but his granddaughter penetrates his crusty exterior and transforms his isolated life into one of joy. She also befriends the young goat-herd, Peter.
Ibsen’s best-known play displays his genius for realistic prose drama. An expression of women’s rights, the play climaxes when the central character, Nora, rejects a smothering marriage and life in "a doll\\\\\\\'s house."

这是毛泽东1930年1月5日给林彪的一封信，是为了答复林彪在当时散发的一封对红军前途究竟如何估计的征求意见信而写的。全文约6500字。第二次国内革命战争时期，在中央苏区革命根据地，曾以《毛泽东同志给林彪同志的信》为题印发过油印的单行本。1941年12月的《六大以来》上册（中共中央书记处编辑出版）、1942年的《军事文献》上册（中央军委编印）和1943年10月的《两条路线》（下）（中共中央书记处编辑）均收入这封信。此外，《拂晓》第1卷第12期（中共淮北苏皖边区党委编印）、《抗战以前选集》第1卷（1944年中共中央北方局编印）、《党的路线问题选集》第2卷（1945年中共中央山东分局编印），均收入这封信。1947年12月，中共晋察冀中央局编辑出版《毛泽东选集》续编本，以《给林彪同志的信》为题收入了这封信。1951年《毛泽东选集》第1卷收入此信，删去了原信中批评林彪的地方，并作了一些其它的修改，题目改为《星星之火，可以燎原》。1986年8月出版的《毛泽东著作选读》（上册）也收入了这封信。1991年《毛泽东选集》再版时，对题解和注释作了一些修改，正文则对个别文字作了校订。
这是毛泽东为1928年10月4日召开的湘赣边界党的第二次代表大会写的决议的一部分。全文约4500字。原题为《政治问题和边界党的任务》。1947年12月，晋察冀中央局将毛泽东在内战时期和抗战时期的几篇重要著作汇集为《毛泽东选集》续编本时，曾全文收入这篇决议案。1948年5月，中共中央东北局以哈尔滨东北书店名义出版发行的六卷合一的《毛泽东选集》精装本，亦选入了该决议案的第一部分第二节，建国初期毛泽东将这一节进行了文字上的修改，拟题为《中国的红色政权为什么能够存在？》，收入了1951年10月出版的《毛泽东选集》第1卷第1版。1991年6月《毛泽东选集》再版时，在注释上作了一些修改，正文没有作任何变动。 此文的单行本有近70种版本，其中汉文版7种，少数民族文版10多种，外文版近50多种。这里收集的最早的版本是建国前西安群众日报社出版的，但具体出版年月不详。
